Just got word from Upper Deck that they have announced that they will be releasing NHL team packs with 24 different teams the second half of the 2009-2010 NHL season. Each team will receive 10,000 packs of six players each which will be free of charge on entry to the games in question, and 1,000 special chase cards for each team (making seven cards per team).
Upper Deck launched this with the New Jersey Devils on January 31st and featured Martin Brodeur, Zach Parise, Jamie Langenbrunner, Patrik Elias, Colin White and Paul Martin, with Travis Zajac as the chase card (available by purchasing any pack of 2009-10 NHL hockey cards, which is how each team will be giving them away).
“Hockey fans can’t get enough of their favorite players,” said Josh Zusman, Upper Deck’s hockey brand manager. “So this is just another way for Upper Deck to give something back to each of the participating teams to encourage continued fan support.”
The fun picks up again tonight with Chicago, and Patrick Kane as the chase card. The other teams are after the cut.
