Coming from collecting baseball and football as I do, what I know of the Artifacts line was from 2005 and 2006 baseball and the retooling of that same design in 2007 for football.  The product apparently is still going strong in hockey, as it is the second product being released for the 2010-11 hockey season.

For the most part, Artifacts has had a decent, classic design without any strange graphical oddities, featuring short-printed rookie cards and a healthy amount of memorabilia inserts.  2010-11 Artifacts appears to continue this trend.

At $10 per pack and something in every pack, be it a relic, autograph short-printed rookie, legend, star or parallel, this product has some pretty solid value, similar to how Panini Certified does things.  I like how the relic cards have the player photo to one side and the relics on the other side, giving the card some balance.  I’m not sure how the base card autograph parallels are going to look, but overall I like how this set is designed.

Of course, as with any set, we’ll have to see how it looks at least, and how it sits on the secondary market in order to get a true sense of its value.  However, so far, so good.
