Card Design:

The notes I made on series one are below.  To be honest, as this is the same set redone, with most of the ‘low numbers’ being in the ‘Hero’ section this still very much applies.  If there’s one change I would suggest to ITG is that I would change up the base auto.  They look the same from year to year, product to product.  The various designs still look good, and I like Between the Seams, but it’s starting to run together in my mind.

(From Series One’s Review)  The strength of the design on this set is primarily going to be hitting one of the rather rare patches, numbers, bats or gloves, which all show what can be done when the licensing costs are out of the way and a company is allowed to actually try different things.  However, most boxes are going to consist primarily of the single autograph cards.  While they’re sticker autos, the use of clear stickers on white card stock makes it look very nice nonetheless.  Once you’re beyond the two primary autograph sets, though, the product really looks nice.  Between the Seams evokes memories of Sweet Spot and some of the memorabilia in the set are far beyond what any other manufacturer is able to do (again, because of licensing issues).   It’s a solid set with the strengths and weaknesses generally balancing each other out.

Score:  3/5

Pizazz:

To be honest, this feels like more of a letdown from series one.  When it was promoted as ‘Low Numbers’, one would think that there’d be less of the product available.  However, this really isn’t the case, given that most of that ‘low numbering’ is in the Heroes section, which by its very nature is going to be harder to pull than the horde of prospects.  Also, the prospects listed in the set don’t hold up to what was offered in Series One.  While Series Two does have Michael Choice, Julio Teheran and a few players already on MLB rosters as we speak, it just feels like a weaker prospect pool than with the previous set.  Given that the prospect autos have the same numbering as Series One, it just doesn’t feel like as strong of a product.  The only real saving grace is that you’re going to get five autos or memorabilia for your $80, which beats many products.
